Principal's Message

Dear Sheridan Way Elementary Families,

I am honored to continue serving as the Principal of Sheridan Way Elementary and to be part of such an amazing school community. We have so many exciting things to look forward to this year!

Last Spring, our teachers participated in professional learning in Teaching for Biliteracy and SONDAY, a proven structured literacy program that uses stage-based instruction and multisensory strategies grounded in the Science of Reading. Our dedicated staff is excited to use these new learning opportunities to provide rigorous, engaging instruction in both English and Spanish, helping every student grow as a confident reader, writer, and learner.

Our PTA is already hard at work supporting our school community by planning fun school events, family activities, fundraisers, and opportunities for all of our Dolphins. Our first big event will be our Community Resource Fair on Saturday, August 29, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. I hope to see you there! We will continue sending a monthly calendar of events at the beginning of each month to help families stay informed and connected.

We are also looking for parent volunteers! Whether you are interested in helping in the classroom, chaperoning field trips, assisting in the office, or serving as a room parent, we would love to have you involved. Please stop by the office for more information.

Things to Know and Remember

  • Free Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost to all students every school day. If you choose to send a lunch or snack from home, we encourage healthy options and ask that students avoid bringing items such as soda, chips, and cookies. Monthly breakfast and lunch menus are available in the office and on our website.
  • Label Belongings: Please label jackets, sweaters, hoodies, lunch boxes, and water bottles with your child's name. This helps us return misplaced items from our Lost and Found.
  • Water Bottles: Sending your child with a labeled, refillable water bottle is highly encouraged, especially during the warm weather, to help them stay hydrated.
  • Family Partnerships: We believe that strong partnerships between home and school help students succeed. Our doors are always open, and we welcome your questions, ideas, and involvement throughout the year.

School begins on Wednesday, August 12, at 8:00 a.m. Class lists will be posted in front of the school on Tuesday, August 11, at 4:00 p.m. and will remain posted through the morning of the first day of school.

Please plan to arrive each day by 7:55 a.m. so students have time to get to class and begin learning on time. Breakfast is served daily from 7:20–7:45 a.m. through the front gate. At 7:45 a.m., students in grades 1–5 will enter through the back gate. TK and Kindergarten students will continue to enter through their designated entrance.

Through Friday, August 21, our campus will remain open each morning so families may walk students to their classrooms and meet their teachers if they wish. Please remember that every Wednesday is an early release day, including the first day of school. Our new bell schedule is attached and is also available on our website. Please review it carefully, as some dismissal times have changed.

Attention TK and Kindergarten Families

Please join us for our TK and Kindergarten Meet & Greet and Orientation on Tuesday, August 11, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. Bring your child to meet their teacher, explore the classroom, and learn more about what to expect during the school year. This is a wonderful opportunity to help your child feel excited and prepared for their first day of school.
