Principal's Message
Dear Sheridan Way Students and Families,
I would like to take a few minutes of your time to formally introduce myself via this letter. My name is Dr.
Clara Guerrero and I am delighted to be the new Principal of Sheridan Way Elementary. Thank you for your
trust! I have been at the school site since January 18, 2022 working alongside Ms. Elizarraras as we both made
our transitions into our new roles. I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you during arrival and dismissal.
Everyone I have met so far has been welcoming and extremely helpful. Thank you for helping me feel at home!
I have over twenty years of experience in education. I have been a Principal, Assistant Principal, Adjunct
Professor, Literacy Coach, Classroom Teacher and a Paraeducator. In every one of those roles I have been
deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of students, by helping and supporting families and
supporting educators. This commitment and passion will continue in my new role.
A little more about me, I have been a resident of Ventura County from the time I was one year old. My parents
are originally from the state of Jalisco in Mexico. We used to visit every single summer and any time we had
time off from school. I am proud to say that I am fully bilingual, biliteracy and bicultural. My husband and I
have four grown children ages 18 to almost 26. They are our pride and joy. We have two dogs Sonic and Coco,
who do the funniest things and brighten our days. I know we will learn a little more about each other in the days
to come.
On Friday you will receive a link to our First S’more Newsletter “Dolphin News.” I plan to publish the
newsletter the first Friday of each month. I invite you to participate in a quick survey that will be shared in the
next few days. Please feel free to continue saying hello during arrival and dismissal. I look forward to meeting
you and working collaboratively with you and Sheridan Way Teachers. I know we will continue to provide
students with an excellent education in a positive and supportive environment.
Sincerely,
Dr. Clara M . Guerrero
Principal, Sheridan Way Elementary School
